Once you decide to be part of Dreamforce event which
is essentially one of the most fulfilled, engaging, innovative learning experience,
where people around the world come together to learn something new from each
other, you realize that it is not just a 4-day event but a long list of 2700
events, which can be categorized in 11 separate types, 16 locations, from
morning 8:00 AM till evening with multiple products, roles, industries, themes
and levels to choose from.
It is exciting as well as overwhelming experience. You
fight your feeling to not to miss out any of the events that you would like to
attend. So, I have collated a list of items that you should keep in mind while
planning for dream force event.
Registering
First and foremost is to register as soon as the
portal is open. I remember the day, registration opens, the majority of that
got filled in next couple of days. The message on portal is now showing that
the full day passes are already booked. Last year event observed around 170,000
participants which is a huge number.
Choosing
your agenda
Choose your agenda wisely. with over 2700 events
happening at 16 different locations, most of them are going to overlap with
each other. Use agenda builder and plan your sessions in advance. Use the
filters available in the agenda builder to narrow down your area of interest according
to level of expertise, role you play in your company. Make sure that your
sessions do not over lap and there is plenty of time for travel between different
locations, food, rest, networking and activities.

Trailhead
modules and Badges
Once you have chosen your agenda, it is good idea to
prepare for it beforehand so that you can benefit from the session to its
fullest. Salesforce is not a small product and the sessions you may going to attend
may not be as understandable as you think they are going to be. So, go ahead
and earn some badges for the events you want to attend. You can brag about them
in DreamForce as well. You can find the related trailhead modules for the event
in agenda builder or salesforce events app.
Logistics
Work on your logistics. Dreamforce force is a huge
event which span across in miles and all that is happening at multiple locations
simultaneously. There is no way you can reach all the sessions in time. so,
plan your travelling time judiciously and mode of transport you are going to
take. Google Map can help you in finding the distance between two locations and
time taken by different mode of transports like cabs, pedicabs, walks etc.
layout plans can be another item to consider for such a big place. Dreamforce
is simply not running between venues but to take your time to absorb all it in.
Salesforce
Events App
Salesforce has done fantastic job in summarizing all
that there is related with DreamForce in a single app. Download and install
Salesforce Events app and use it for all your navigation and planning purposes.
This app will be your companion throughout the event and will provide all the
necessary details such as event schedule, venues, speakers, your agenda,
connectivity details etc.

Dreamforce channel will give you insight of behind the
scene DreamForce event. You will find multiple interviews, chats and
discussions between the well-known spoke persons, company top leaders,
partners. Channel is best place to gather information about the agenda of
upcoming event.
Socialize with local group
Dreamforce is not a lone venture event. Its main
motive is to collaborate and network among ourselves. So rather than doing it
all alone, where is the fun in that. Socialize with your local group and join
them in the event. You may find some people with common interest and problems
like you. There are multiple channels through which you can socialize during DreamForce
event.

community
If you have any queries, trailhead community is best
place to ask those. Trailhead community is very helpful place to get all those
answers you are seeking.
Do
Your Homework
Do your homework and different aspects of event apart
from the events itself like weather, your stay, what to wear, what to pack etc.

Use
Quip
If you have the invitation confirmed, chances are you
may be part of the group of your company or other collaborative group. Use quip
to create common place for your group which can have chats, bulletins,
announcements, fellow trailblazer’s information etc. Be sure to keep this
information handy.
Expect
the unexpected
In the end, not all the things can go according to
your agenda. so, keep some time aside for unexpected delays, traffic, health
reasons etc.
Dreamforce is event for us to experience what we can
