Kindle Paperwhite 3 - Review
Amazon Kindle |
As an avid reader, I have felt that my library is growing at a steady pace. According to my calculations, I will be out of space (in my home) within a couple of years for physical books. As much as I love them, my family is in constant argument to reduce the "junk". I have developed my relationship with books and it is very difficult to let them go. I started searching for solutions. I was not the fan of digital e-books. I find them soulless. Finally, I give in to the argument and started searching for the best e-reader I could find affordable for my pocket and I was in for a surprise.
What is Amazon Kindle?
The Amazon Kindle is a succession of e-readers, intended for Amazon distributed e-books and user contents. Amazon Kindle empower clients with browse, buy, download and peruse digital content. Furthermore e-books, newspapers, magazines and other digital media can be consumed through Kindle store, an online Amazon service to publish, store and provide digital content over the internet. The hardware for kindle, is produced by Lab126 which is subsidiary of Amazon, started production of first generation kindle as a solitary gadget. Presently, it comprises the range of devices, including e-readers with e-ink electronic paper displays, Android-based tablets for color LCD screens. Also Kindle provisions with respect to every one significant digital platforms. All Kindle units incorporated for Kindle store content, as of April 2017, Amazon store boasts of over 6.9 million e-books accessible in the united states.
After a lot of consideration on my usage and price cosideration, I opted for Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi.
Amazon Paperwhite3
The Kindle Paperwhite (3rd generation), marketed by Amazon as "All-New Kindle Paperwhite" and popular as Paperwhite3 or Paperwhite 2015. It was first released on June 30, 2015, in the US. There are two models Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G . The screen sports 6-inch display screen with e-ink, 1440×1080 resolution, 300 ppi resolution density. The high PPI makes paperwhite display, as crisp and HD display. It has 4GB of memory but 3GB is available to the user for content. The space is enough to store hundreds of e-books. The user can download or copy content in many of the industry standards for digital content. It has an excellent battery backup. Amazon claims it to be around 6 weeks for normal usage., like a half hour reading daily.
The Paperwhite 3 is the primary e-reader to incorporate Bookerly font, created by Amazon.
My opinion
Amazon announced 7th generation Kindle in September 2017. This new entry-level Kindle goes with expanded storage and a touchscreen display, which is a nice and essential touch. I am using Kindle Paperwhite 3 for a few months and I must say that it is a pleasant transition from physical books.
The new Kindle Paperwhite is sleek and lighter. The touch screen is very responsive and e-ink do not strain the eyes of the reader. The backlit version of kindle provides the LED built into the Kindle to illuminate the screen in low-light/dark conditions. The major advantage of the Kindle is its e-ink. E-Ink reflects light instead of emitting light like current conventional LED screens. This reduce strain on the eyes and it became quite easy to read for hours. Electronic paper is simply reflecting the light, thus is less strenuous to readers who put in more hours in reading. Though the E-Ink is capable of rendering images and graphics, it still lacks those vibrant colors. The screen displays in black & white, which is like books.
The 7th generation Kindle goes for 4GB storage, twice to the extent that the past one, which can store ample number of books. However, it's somewhat heavier also bulkier over its antecedent. It only has the power button at the bottom edge of the device. The lack of physical navigation button can be problem for the few readers who don’t want to keep touching the screen for page change. Connectivity on the entry-level Kindle may be restricted to Wi-Fi. Each kindle model provides the weeks of battery.
As far as UI programming features are concerned, the experience is fundamentally the same as the Kindle Paperwhite. An upcoming product upgrade will include a couple of more features - could be found on the Amazon website.
The Kindle remains the best eBook distributor In India and what’s more it supports Hindi and regional language fonts as well. The all-new Kindle is available from Amazon India from Rs. 5,999 to as high as 28999 which is flagship model of Kindle series named as Kindle Oasis. Furthermore, it’s an incredible gadget for any individual looking to immerse in the world of digital content. In my opinion, nothing can beat the nostalgia and feel of the physical book, but if you are willing to change yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
