Drawing with XP-Pen Deco 3

The Cherry Tree
In the last blog, I discussed on my selection process of drawing tablet. With so many choices available and considering the price point factor, I decided to try out XP-PEN Deco 3. I must tell you that I have never used drawing tablet before this one and I have zero experience with digital art even I don't have any advance drawing software’s. I am doing all this for only one reason, I love drawing and painting and I am novice in that also. And this is not a sponsored post (I would love to review their other products though).

I have Deco3 for a week now and I bought it with zero expectation and experience. The only grudge that I had is that it is costlier in India. In United States, it is less than 100$ while in India currently it is more than 190$, which is as much as twice the price. That said, I am very satisfied with the drawing tablet itself. This drawing tablet is packed with lots of features which is still hard to find in other professional tablets at this price.

Introduced in India for the first time. The table is very light weight ergonomically very easy to use for both left and right-handed artist. For beginners like me who do not want to invest for the inbuilt screen drawing tablet, screen less tablets are better choice as they are cheaper.

Deco3 can be used both with wire which is Type C USB cable and in wireless mode with the help of dongle provided with the tablet which can be connected in USB port of your computer. The work area of the table is quite sufficient as well, you get 10x5.62 inches of drawing area, which do not sound much for the beginners but it more than sufficient to enhance your art.

Pen which comes with Deco3 is the latest of XP-PEN, what’s more, it passive pen which means that it does not require any recharging. The down side can be that the pen itself may not have many features like 6 axis etc. But Deco3 support 2 different buttons on pen itself. One for right click and other for eraser mode.

Deco3 supports 6 different shortcut hard keys on the tablet itself. These are customizable keys which you can configure according to your need. I have configured couple of them for undo/redo, mode selection. Deco3 also has a wheel which comes very handy to zoom in and out the drawing and increasing/decreasing the size of brush. It does not have 8, 10 or more hard keys like some other professional tablets have but still do the job.

Response of Deco3 is quite natural. I felt like I am using pen on paper while drawing. There is no lag and tablet work beyond my expectation. I haven’t used any professional tablets but XP-Pen has excelled in Deco3 design and working. The tablet feel is premium and working on it is quite intuitive for first time users like me. I found no problem in installing the drivers which are available on XP-PEN website. Once installed I started using it as I am using it all along.

I have done some research around XP-PEN customer support and found that they have some dedicated team which will help you in resolving any issues you may have. XP-PEN is rapidly gaining new grounds and establishing it against some of already known name in this industry.

I say that I am happy with the choice I made, the Deco3 is very fluidic with 8192 pressure sensitivity levels which is not present in some of the established models of drawing tablets. It has pretty good accuracy of .01 of an inch with report rate of 266 RPS. It comes with anti-fouling glove as well.

I would say don’t hesitate and if you are thinking to buy new drawing tablet XP-PEN can be one tool to help you in bringing your dreams on to digital canvas.

Above is my second creation from XP-Pen Deco 3, as a beginner I am quite happy with it.

The Deco 03 can be used with Windows 10/8/7/ and Mac OS 10.8.x or later. This tablet is compatible with many creative software programs. Compatibility is always being steadily improved through driver updates.
