The list is long about what SharePoint has to server, SharePoint really has come a long way from past versions. Let's take a look on what SharePoint 2010 has to offer -
1. Collaboration – Of course number one in the list is what SharePoint is know for Collaboration. It offers collaboration through integration with custom sites, newsfeeds etc.
2. External support – SharePoint uses model called BDC in SharePoint 2007 which now becomes BCS (Business Connectivity Services) in SharePoint 2010. It has better and easier system integration.This OOB feature enable users to connect to external data in a meaningful way. Users can now integrate third party applications and extract data

3. SharePoint Offline Support – SharePoint now offers offline browsing support to previously cached content though not to 100%. But still we can get lists, and external lists offline.
4. SharePoint Designer Enhancements - The designer now support features like portable workflows, and granular delegation.
5. Sandbox Solutions – now solutions built from the SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio.
These are just the glimpse of SharePoint and its features. It for the Business to decide how much it wants to leverage from the available set.
