 Motivation: Your Unlimited Inner Power
Motivation can come from different Sources

Motivation is essentially a driving force, the energy, a power which is behind every event that occurs, with or without human intervention. For e.g. Planets revolve around the sun, gravity motivates them to revolve. Flower motivates bees and butterflies for pollination; nature is full of these events. For every event, there is a cause and every cause is what motivate events. It looks far-fetched, but this is one way to understand things that happen around you, us, everyone and you are part of it!
Why do I need to motivate myself? I have asked this question many times to myself.
Some reasons are obvious, others are well, not so obvious. Everybody around us, if we see as a neutral person, we will notice that everyone is heading somewhere, endless tasks to complete but still, we die with much to accomplish in life. Sometimes it feels like that you are alone in this race, or sometimes we are unable to judge the situation. This happens to all of us at some point in time, in life. This cause us to loose track of our actions, de-motivate and depress us. To keep our focus, towards our target, we need self- motivation.

Motivation helps us to excel in our lives.
Motivation can come from two sources –
1. External
The external source is anything that is outside the domain of our mind, body, and soul. This kind of motivation is not sustaining one. It cannot keep on motivating you for a long time. As a human tendency, we need a change every now and then. With time the effect of this external motivation fades and we have to find a new way to motivate us. External motivation factors can be one or multiple and of different kinds, depending upon our nature and priorities. For some money is motivation, for others job promotion, or even making charities and donations.
2. Internal
This is our inner feeling that drives us constantly to achieve new heights. This is self-sustaining energy, that keeps on driving us through out our life, as long as we use it. Consider a hybrid car which uses solar and gasoline power used as a fuel. Now, the car will keep on running in the daytime on solar batteries, but at night it has to use gasoline. This is like depending on the external source of motivation, which is limited while internal power will keep you driving till its last drop. So, never allow your gas tank to get empty. Keep on driving yourself through self-motivation.

Let me ask you a question. What is the difference between normal water and soda water? Yes, you are right, the Effervescence, that bubbly thing. These bubbles are part of soda water that comes out of the water by itself. How can you get bubbles in normal water? Through external heat source, for boiling it. The point here is, soda water doesn’t need any external source for Effervescence, while normal water requires heat source. The Same rule applies to all of us; we need to have that effervescence, that bubbly part in ourselves.
Self Motivation will help to add meaning to your life. You will not live to just live.It’s a good saying – “Add life to days and not days to life”.
Self-motivation helps you in adding life to days.

Causes of De-Motivation
As we can get motivated, we can get de-motivated also. It is our tendency to get demotivated very easily, but it is very difficult for us to motivate ourselves. Because we are used to looking only small trivial negative things that happen around us, but we overlook the good things happening around us. In this fast-paced world, things happen so fast that before you can react, something may go wrong which may de-motivate you. These events are mostly associated with our needs, expectations, and aspirations. Some of these factors can be –
a) Job factor
b) Financial factor
c) Health factor
d) Social factor
And so on….
But keep on reminding yourself, that you are in control of your life. You have the authority to make decisions related to your life. Nobody can motivate you for this. But then you have to realize the power you have, to lead a life, the way you want. Wake up every morning and say to yourself – “This is going to be my day”.
There is no magic potion which can motivate you; instead, you have that very power to influence yourself, your life.

How to motivate yourself?

There is no perfect answer for this question, for every person the answer would be different. Still, there are some factors which may affect all of us.

1. Retrospection
Know your past, identify the major decisions you have taken that made you successful. It doesn’t matter how trivial they are. Keeping those successful events in mind will motivate you for your future decisions. On the other hand, identify the events in which you are not that fortunate. Identifying these tasks will help you in making better decisions. Never lose hope.
2. Meditation
Meditation helps in gaining focus. Regular meditation not only improves your mental fitness but also helps you in gaining discipline.
3. Accept the reality
The first step towards self-motivation is to accept what you are, the situation around you. This will bring you to ground realities so that you can start fresh. By Accepting reality, you will gain faith to overcome your hurdle and this is self-motivation.
4. Dreams and Aspirations
Dreams help you to think big. They will take you one step closer to your aspirations. This is what motivates you. You cannot win the race without being part of it!

5. Identify your hunger
If you don’t have a dream, you are missing something in your life. Identify your dreams they will help you in motivating yourself.
6. Compete with yourself
The only competition that exists is, you vs you and with no one else. There is a reason behind it; there is no one in the world that is like you. You are unique and the situations you faced in your life being you are unique. The experience you gain from that is also unique. The competition always exists between the persons of the same category, and that is you. Try to take yourself one step further, inch by inch proceed towards your aim.
7. Believe in yourself
You are the one who pull through all the situations in life till now, so why under estimate yourself. Believe in yourself, because it is only you, who can help you.
8. Be a star performer of your life
Don’t be a sidekick of your life; never let other take control of your life. Behave as if life is a movie and you are its leading star.
9. Learn from your mistakes
To err is human, everybody makes a mistake. We are not machines but it is wise to learn from your mistakes. So, the next time you face a similar situation, you have the experience to tackle it, and this will boost your confidence and motivates you.
10. There is no – No
You should always try to have ‘never say die’ spirit. Erase the word ‘No’ from your dictionary. Try to achieve things, that are just outside your limit and stretch you a little. Winning is not always important, but learning is.
11. Be positive
Positive thinking is like positive energy. The more positive energy you give to your surroundings, the more you will get in return.
12. Get some inspirations
Still, if you are in the dark, follow a great leader who impresses you most. Try to put yourself in his shoes and ask, what will he/she do if he/she faces the same situation.
Those are all big words, but the gist is that key is in your hand to unlock the door of your success. Like it is said, trying is half winning and giving up is all losing.
