AdiYogi Shiva: Feel the spiritual power
The bliss of a
feeling of nothingness, the void around me, when my mind was like an empty
container with nothing but one thought of his, when there was no sense of
individuality and yet feeling of direct connection with the one; with everyone
around me and I still felt the inner silence; at this point of state, I felt
the vastness, the power of his and my tininess. This kind of experience can
make you humble, it certainly made me.
The experience
I wrote above is hard to attain and may need years of practice and meditation.
However, my last year visit to Coimbatore’s one of the most spiritual place,
famously known as Adi Yogi Shiva can jump start your spiritual experience. The
whole surrounding, the aura in the air and the weather uniting together with
Mantras (enchantments) created positive energy all around to make one feel
cleansed, right through his soul.
Concept
Designed by
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, who is also the founder of Isha Foundation, Adi Yogi
Shiva is a Bust Statue of God Shiva in Yoga meditation pose. The Adi yogi Shiva
was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi on 24th
February 2017 on Mahashivaratri. It is a festivle to honor God Shiva.
Location
Situated 31 Kms
from Coimbatore city which is in southern part of India, Tamil Nadu state. It
takes around one hour to reach from city. Taxis and Public transport are
readily available for transit. What makes this place so different is the
concept.
I took a cab
from Coimbatore city to Isha Yoga complex which houses the Dhyanalinga in
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountains, a range in
the Western Ghats. It took me around 1.5 Hours to reach there at my pace. The
place is quite famous and crowdy but it does not feel like it due to the
vastness of the place.
Spiritual Meaning
The word
"Adi Yogi Shiva" is a combination of "Adi" which means the
first, "Yogi" means practitioner of Yoga discipline and
"Shiva", the God. Thus, Adi Yogi Shiva is the one who is the
originator of yoga, the first one to practice it. The 112 Feet height has
special purpose. It denotes 112 Chakras or energy points in human body and 112
ways to attain Moksha or Nirvana or Self Realization.
When I
approached the foot hill of Abode of Adi Yogi, it was the time of dusk and sun
was about to set. The wind was little warm and blowing freely. As soon as I saw
the Adi yogi, I felt the connection as It is the biggest and tallest structure
around, challenging the heights of nearby mountains. The bust was radiating
warmth through its black metal which have absorbed the heat all day long. As I
approached the Adi yogi, it first appeared to descend from me as illusion. But
after a point as I move closer, I felt the size of the bust, it was touching
sky when I saw it from the base. The half open eyes and yoga posture gives a
soothing effect. I felt more relaxed with each passing moment. The night view
is even more beautiful with moon light on bust radiate aura all around. It was
a very humbling experience.
Interesting Facts
The foundation
of bust statue weighs around 500 tons. The statue itself is 34 Meter or 112
Feet Tall. It is record holder for "Largest Bust Sculpture" in the
world by Guinness World Records. It took 2 years to design and 8 months to
manufacture the statue. The statue is casted of steel, Adi Yogi Shiva has also
the biggest face in the world.
The tallest
Shiva statue is the Kailash Nath Mahadev Statue in Nepal 20-km east of the
capital, Katmandu, which is 44 meters (143 ft.) tall.
Future Plans
It has been
announced that 3 more such statues will be erected in Varanasi, Mumbai and Delhi
to symbolize unity of eastern, western, northern parts of India together with
existing one in south India.
In my opinion, there are very less places on earth where you feel connected with your spiritual energy and can realign with oneself. Adi Yogi Shiva is one such location. Time flies here..
